Crane-Assisted Haulage Services
Crane-assisted haulage combines road transport with an on-board lorry loader for loads that need mechanical lifting at collection or delivery.

What is crane-assisted haulage?
Crane-assisted haulage uses a truck-mounted crane to load or unload cargo carried on the same vehicle. It is commonly described as Hiab transport, crane lorry transport or lorry-loader haulage. The arrangement can simplify suitable jobs because lifting and road movement are coordinated through one transport team.
The method is not automatically suitable for every load. Crane capacity, lifting radius, bed space, lifting points, access, ground bearing conditions and the final position must all be checked.
- Machinery and plant movements
- Shipping containers and site cabins
- Tanks, generators and commercial equipment
- Steelwork, stillages and unusual loads
From kerbside delivery to controlled positioning
Some jobs require a straightforward load or offload beside the vehicle. Others need a longer reach over a wall or careful positioning within a restricted site. The distance and obstacles affect the crane capacity available, so site photographs and measurements are essential.
We provide operated vehicles across Lancashire and the North West, with nationwide collections and deliveries subject to availability and the agreed scope.

Frequently asked questions
Is crane-assisted haulage the same as Hiab transport?
The terms are often used for the same type of service: a lorry-mounted crane lifts a load that is transported on the vehicle.
Is a separate mobile crane always required?
No. A suitable crane lorry may complete both lifting and transport, but the load, reach, access and ground conditions must be assessed first.
Do you provide crane-assisted haulage nationwide?
Yes. Collections and deliveries can be arranged throughout the UK, subject to the load details and vehicle availability.
Need lifting and transport in Lancashire?
Contact us with whatever details you have. Postcodes, dimensions, weight and photographs are helpful if available, but they are not required for initial contact.
