Hiab Transport & Crane-Assisted Haulage
A lorry-mounted crane and flatbed vehicle allow one experienced operator to lift, carry and position a suitable load.

Crane-assisted haulage explained
This service uses a lorry fitted with its own loader crane. Subject to the load, reach and site conditions, the same vehicle can collect an item, load it onto the bed, carry it by road and offload it at the destination. This can avoid coordinating a separate mobile crane and haulage lorry.
Lancashire Hiab Transport provides operated vehicles rather than self-drive hire. Our team assesses the verified weight and dimensions, lifting points, access, route, operating radius and intended final position before recommending a suitable vehicle.
- Collection and delivery by crane lorry
- Crane-assisted haulage with an operator
- On-site offload and controlled positioning
- Rigid, articulated and wagon-and-drag options
- Lancashire and nationwide UK movements
Loads moved by crane lorry
Our work includes shipping containers, portable cabins, site accommodation, machinery, plant, tanks, generators, stillages, steelwork, signs and unusual commercial equipment. A lorry-mounted crane is only suitable where the crane capacity, lifting radius, ground conditions and access are appropriate for the individual lift.
For wide, long or abnormal loads, dimensions and route restrictions must also be reviewed. Complex lifting operations can include RAMS, lift-planning support, an appointed person, a slinger or banksman and traffic-management coordination when these form part of the agreed scope.
Information that helps with a quotation
Contact us with whatever information you have. If available, send the postcodes, approximate load weight and dimensions, photographs, lifting-point details and a description of the preferred final position.
These details help the team assess bed space, lifting radius and crane capacity, but they are not required for initial contact. We will advise what further information is needed before the work is confirmed.
