When is a long-reach Hiab needed?
A long-reach Hiab may be suitable when a load must pass over a wall, fence or other suitable obstruction, or when the vehicle cannot stand close to the final position. We do not lift loads over houses or buildings. The required radius is measured from the crane rather than from the edge of the lorry.
Reach and lifting capacity are directly connected: the farther a load travels from the crane, the less weight can usually be handled. We therefore need a verified load weight, measurements and photographs before selecting equipment.

Measure the radius and working area
Photographs should show the proposed lorry position, obstruction and final placement in one wider view where possible. Provide approximate horizontal distances, obstruction height, safe outrigger space and details of overhead services or soft ground.
A long-reach crane still needs suitable road access, bed space and safe operating conditions. If the load is also being transported, dimensions and route restrictions must be considered alongside the lift.
